How to prepare envelope artwork

Prepare a print-ready file

First check the exact envelope variant: size, closure, printed side and window position.

  • Save your artwork as a PDF

    CDR and JPG templates help you prepare the artwork. Upload a finished PDF with your order.

  • Keep a 1:1 scale

    The PDF page dimensions must match your envelope. Prepare the file without bleed, following its template.

  • Use CMYK colours

    Prepare artwork in the CMYK colour space for printing.

  • Protect your fonts

    Converting text to outlines is the safest approach. If you keep live text, check that all fonts are embedded in the PDF.

  • Use sharp images

    Photos and other bitmap images should be at least 300 dpi at their final print size.

  • Match your print coverage

    Choose coverage to match the product configurator: up to 50% of the surface or over 50%, where available.

How do I send artwork?

  1. 01

    Check the file

    Compare your PDF with the selected envelope. Check dimensions, window, text and image quality. Remove the template's guide markings from the finished artwork.

  2. 02

    Configure the printing

    Choose the quantity, single- or double-sided printing and coverage. Select “Your own artwork” when supplying your own file.

    Add a PDF to your order

    Upload files after placing your order. For double-sided printing, clearly identify the front and back artwork.

Artwork preparation questions

Do I need artwork to check the price?

No. Check the price in the configurator before uploading files. You can prepare your own artwork or choose our design service, where available.

Can I use a window template for a non-window envelope?

Choose the exact variant's template. Window position, closure and envelope side affect the layout. If the correct template is missing, contact us.

How can I check the result before a full print run?

Envelope samples help you assess paper and construction. A proof of your artwork is a separate order; agree availability, cost and timing with us beforehand.

Where can I see finished printing examples?

In our project gallery you will find printed envelope examples. For unusual artwork, send an individual quotation enquiry.
